Project Goals …
Ø Intentionally link child care with senior services for the benefit of shared resources
Ø Provide life-enriching, community-based intergenerational programs, services, and resources for people of all ages
Ø Meet the tremendous demand for facility-based child care in the community, increasing the number of available day care slots by 10-15 children
Ø Provide adequate space to meet the need for additional and more diverse programs that serve a growing and diverse senior population of three age cohorts (60-70, 70-85, 85+)
Ø Provide meeting and activity rooms that can be utilized by the community for evening meetings, business functions, weekend activities, continuing education, and special events
Ø Provide a community “information center,” including: computer rooms, a family resource center, parent resources, and health information
Ø Promote exercise, education, and collaboration for both children and seniors
Ø Ensure a safe, secure, accessible building and site
Ø Design a center that is scaled to the size and care needs of children and adults
Ø Maintain a “continuum of care” philosophy
Ø Build upon the great history, parks, businesses, and people of the Plymouth/Sheboygan area
Ø Develop a facility that will assure we do not lose precious day care slots for infants and children due to inadequate facilities, and that we do not have space limitations that would prevent seniors and families from participating in life-enriching programs and services
